Specifically developed for Antarctic and Arctic climates, these winches can operate in temperatures down to -50 degrees centigrade. They are typically built for research, commercial, and defense customers for applications such as deploying deep ice coring equipment.

Insulated and heated electronics, upgraded cold climate control features, pre-programmable operations, and materials structurally rated for extreme temperatures are all examples of features built into these winches to allow them to operate in cold climates such as the Arctic and Antarctic. These winches can also be containerized, or come with covers and have modular components to allow the systems to remain exposed on site for an extended duration.
