Okeanus Launches 20-Ton A-Frame Package
Okeanus Science & Technology, LLC (Okeanus), an international provider of specialized ocean equipment and marine engineering services, today announced the addition of a newly designed and manufactured 20-Ton A-Frame and 125HP HPU to its lineup of specialized launch and recovery equipment. This turnkey A-Frame and HPU package is available both for preorder and as part of Okeanus’ expanding rental portfolio of subsea survey solutions.
Designed and built at Okeanus’ engineering and manufacturing facility in Houston, TX, the new A-Frame system has been engineered to meet operator demand for increasingly robust but versatile deck handling equipment geared towards heavy-lift geotechnical and environmental survey work in challenging and often volatile offshore environments.
“In recent years, we have seen a steady call for launch and recovery systems engineered to safely and reliably handle bigger loads in deeper waters, so we are excited to bring the new 20-ton A-Frame package to market, both as a build-to-order offering and as part of our rental lineup,” said Benton LeBlanc, Chief Commercial Officer at Okeanus.
Since being added to Okeanus’ rental pool, the A-Frame has been successfully mobilized on two projects: the first in support of a campaign of uncrewed vehicle deployments for a government client and the second with an international marine vessel provider through the end of summer 2024.
“Beyond operational safety and reliability, factors that underwrite every Okeanus product design, the offshore utility of the A-Frame package was a core consideration,” explained LeBlanc. “In testing, we quickly determined that the system was ideally suited for the launch and recovery of uncrewed assets, especially uncrewed surface vehicles (USVs), from a larger mothership thanks not only to the load tolerance but also the system’s large internal clearances. This is a feature that we know is of increased importance for operators across the ocean sector.”
Okeanus’ rental option provides customers with a route to rapid mobilization and the flexibility of incorporating this A-Frame package on a wide variety of vessels in virtually any operating region in the world.
