FROM WORKSHOP TO FIELD OPS #3: DT3125 Electro-Hydraulic Multi-Purpose Winch

Here we profile another Okeanus system designed to optimize deck space and offer offshore clients the maximum operational utility from their launch and recovery equipment.

The majority of our field-proven multi-purpose winches come with commercial-off-the-shelf features and specifications, however, Okeanus is also able to offer a range of additional options and mission-specific customization packages.

Once again, we take you behind the scenes at our ISO 9001:2015 certified facility in Houston to showcase the best in ruggedized ocean winches: the DT3125 Electro-Hydraulic Multi-Purpose Winch.

Okeanus has delivered two of these winches over the past few months, as per the photos. These winches—there are three separate models in the series portfolio with drum capacity ranging from 5,400 meters to 7,600 meters—are ideal for deeper ocean exploration. Each model has been designed and engineered specifically for the deployment of deep-tow side-scan systems, larger V-Fin systems, and ROVs given the max line pull of 20,000 lbs. at 150 ft/min and 0.68” cable.

The winches are equipped with a self-contained, closed-loop, electro-hydraulic power unit, with 125 hp as standard. Other standard features include: a hydro-active levelwind; variable sped controls; levelwind jog; and emergency stop. Designed in accordance with ABS and DNV standards, the three coat marine grade paint coasting and finest weld steel construction ensure the durability and reliability of DT3125 winches in even the harshest of at-sea conditions.
